Protection & Control Engineer (Remote)
About the Opportunity
Our client is a nationally recognized engineering consulting firm supporting some of the most critical power delivery and infrastructure projects across the United States. As their Power Delivery group continues to grow, they are seeking a Protection & Control Engineer to support the design and delivery of transmission and distribution substation projects. This is a fully remote opportunity with exposure to utility, renewable energy, industrial, and mission-critical infrastructure clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Protection & Control (P&C) design packages for transmission and distribution substations.
- Design and prepare protection schemes, relay settings support, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and cable schedules.
- Perform protection and control studies and develop engineering calculations.
- Support relay upgrades, greenfield substation projects, and substation modernization initiatives.
- Coordinate with Physical Design, Civil/Structural, Transmission Line, and Project Management teams throughout project execution.
- Review engineering deliverables for technical accuracy and compliance with client specifications and industry standards.
- Participate in client meetings and provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers while supporting technical development initiatives.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in substation Protection & Control engineering within utility, consulting, EPC, or power delivery environments.
- Knowledge of transmission and distribution protection philosophies and substation control systems.
- Experience developing relay one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and control designs.
- Familiarity with industry-standard protective relays and communication systems.
- Understanding of NERC, IEEE, and utility design standards.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
