The firm partners with industrial, transportation, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, and commercial clients to evaluate environmental impacts, navigate regulatory requirements, and deliver technically sound solutions that support project development and operational success.
They are seeking an Air Quality Modeling Consultant to join a growing technical team focused on atmospheric modeling, emissions analysis, environmental impact assessment, and regulatory strategy. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of complex projects while collaborating with engineers, scientists, planners, and environmental specialists across multiple service lines.
What You'll Be Doing
- Perform air dispersion modeling and technical impact assessments for industrial, infrastructure, energy, transportation, and development projects.
- Develop and execute air quality models to evaluate potential impacts from new facilities, facility expansions, operational changes, and infrastructure projects.
- Analyze emissions sources and prepare emissions inventories and calculations.
- Support environmental review and permitting efforts by providing technical analyses and recommendations.
- Evaluate modeling results and develop practical mitigation strategies to address project constraints and regulatory requirements.
- Interpret meteorological, terrain, receptor, and emissions data to support environmental assessments.
- Prepare technical memoranda, air quality impact assessments, environmental studies, and regulatory documentation.
- Present findings and recommendations to clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex environmental and engineering projects throughout North America.
- Support business development efforts through proposal preparation and technical contributions.
Air Modeling Experience Desired
Candidates should have experience utilizing one or more of the following air quality modeling tools:
- AERMOD for near-field dispersion and regulatory compliance analyses.
- AERSCREEN for preliminary screening-level air quality evaluations.
- CALPUFF for complex terrain, long-range transport, and non-steady-state dispersion modeling.
- MOVES for transportation and mobile-source emissions assessments.
- SCREEN3 and other screening models.
- Air emissions inventory and dispersion modeling support software.
- Meteorological data processing tools such as AERMET and related applications.
Experience preparing model inputs, conducting sensitivity analyses, interpreting results, and communicating findings to clients and regulatory agencies is highly desirable.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in air quality consulting, atmospheric modeling, environmental compliance, or air permitting.
- Demonstrated experience conducting air quality modeling studies and interpreting regulatory requirements.
- Experience supporting environmental permitting, impact assessments, compliance evaluations, or regulatory review processes.
- EIT, PE, CCM, or other relevant professional certifications are considered a plus.
